In Partnership with LAHC, LAU Alumni Association and Arab Detroit.
Thursday, October 7, 2010, 6PM to 9PM
For its second time in Michigan, and the fifth time around the country, LCN hosted an After Work Professional/Alumni Mixer at Chen Chow in Birmingham, Michigan on October 7th, 2010. The Lebanese Collegiate Network partnered with the Lebanese American Heritage Club (LAHC), Lebanese American University Michigan Chapter (LAU), and Arab Detroit. More than 100 professionals took advantage of the LCN mixer opportunity to see friends and make new contacts. Wassim Mahfouz from LAHC shared his views and commented, “[…] The LAHC is proud of the LCN and their efforts to promote networking and such activities among young professionals. They are the future of our community and are the legacy of Lebanese in America.” Attendees included professionals in the Academic, Arts, Engineering, Entrepreneurship, Journalism, Law, and Medical fields.
Guests were provided with nametags with only their profession and a hobby on it. This was a great icebreaker among the many new faces in attendance and helped create a welcoming and professional atmosphere. “I found the LCN mixer to be a refreshing change to your typical networking function. The attendees, as well as those who put the event together, were a diverse crowd of fun, friendly professionals that I can relate to on many levels. I, now, make a point to mark my calendar for any/all future LCN events,” expressed Brenda Sitto, a medical industry professional. LCN is dedicated to provide professionals with the contacts and skills necessary to succeed in their professional and academic endeavors. Without the support of our community’s professionals we would not succeed. When asked about LCN’s impact on professionals, Warren David from Arab Detroit answered: “As a third-generation Arab American of Lebanese descent, I am excited to see the success of the Lebanese Collegiate Network as they promote communication and culture to Lebanese American alumni across the U.S. […]”
Judith Farah, LCN VP of Events welcomed the attendees and thanked the partners. Warren David from Arab Detroit, Hiba Yazbeck, the president of the Lebanese American University (LAU) Michigan Chapter, Wassim Mahfouz, the Executive Director of LAHC, and Ramzi Nasr, LCN Co-Founder, each spoke briefly to welcome the guests and introduce them to their respective organizations. Finally, Rami Haddad, LCN VP of PR, thanked the sponsors of the night before giving out the many raffle prizes. Hiba Yazbeck from LAU Alumni added: “[..] LAU Detroit Chapter believes that Action is the foundational key to all success, thank you LCN for all the joint effort.”
