On October 4th, 2012, the Lebanese Collegiate Network (LCN) hosted its first event in Cleveland, Ohio. The LCN professional mixer, held at Taza Lebanese Grill in Downtown Cleveland, was a great opportunity to learn more about the LCN and network with other Lebanese students and professionals in the area.
While we have many involved LCN members in the state including the great committee who helped to plan the mixer: Marianne Dergham, Tina Lattouf, Diana Naoum, and former LCN Secretary Vicky Haddad, we are hoping to strengthen the ties of the University Lebanese clubs (ULCs) in the area and inspire students to create their own ULCs. We are glad to say that the Ohio mixer has strummed up even more interest in the LCN. The professionals at the event were able to meet people from similar fields, exchange information, and broaden their professional network. Since this mixer is the first of its kind in Ohio, the attending professionals got the chance to make lasting connections in this unique setting and learn more about the LCN.
The evening consisted of mixing and mingling to meet new people and later in the evening, there was time for an informative introduction explaining theLCN mission and purpose while also touching on how people can get involved, given by Maya Nasr, the Vice President of Events. We are excited to extend our family to more universities in Ohio! After the presentation, attendees continued to enjoy the drinks and appetizers that Taza had to offer. Toward the end of the night, the raffle prizes were awarded to the lucky winners.
We would like to thank everyone who participated in making our first Ohio event a success. As LCN is growing, we continue to spread our mission to new states; with the great reception of the LCN in Ohio, we are confident that our LCN community will continue to blossom. We look forward to see each other again at the 6th annual LCN Convention at Purdue University in West Lafayette, Indiana: April 3rd – 5th!
