In early September, Los Angeles and the west coast bid farewell to Ms. Madonna Aoun and welcomed its new Lebanese Consul General, Mr. Johnny Ibrahim. As were his predecessors, Consul General Ibrahim is very supportive of LCN’s mission and objective. For this purpose, he requested that the LCN board puts together an event to meet with the local University Lebanese Clubs of the LA area for a casual discussion regarding how both parties could collaborate creatively moving forward together .
On November 9th, Consul General Ibrahim kicked off the afternoon event by introducing himself and giving us the highlights of his impressive background and an idea of what we, as Lebanese, Americans, and Lebanese-Americans, should expect from the Lebanese Consulate General at UCLA. Questions from the UCLA Lebanese club followed. Attendees were particularly interested in internships at the Lebanese Consulate General Office and study abroad programs in the American University of Beirut and Notre Dame University. Consul General Ibrahim and UCLA also highlighted upcoming events sponsored by the Consulate General Office such as the beauty pageant and the Lebanese Independence Day Celebration.
The Lebanese Collegiate Network and its members are extremely grateful for the opportunity of having such a down-to-earth supporter who is willing to share his experiences and connections with students and young professionals, in order to help us achieve our goals.
